Cisco Part Number: ASR1000-ESP200-X is a Cisco ASR 1000 Embedded Services Processor 200Gbps
The Cisco ASR1000-ESP200-X is a QFP-based Embedded Services Processor designed for the Cisco ASR1000 Series Routers. Built on third-generation QFP ASIC technology, it features two third-generation QFP ASICs, offering 64-bit resource memory and an integrated crypto module. This module enhances crypto performance, delivering higher bandwidth support, improved throughput, and greater scalability. Additionally, the ESP supports smart licensing and soft enforcement for added flexibility.
The Cisco ASR1000-ESP200-X is compatible with the following routers:
The Cisco ASR 1000 Series Embedded Services Processors (ESPs) manage all the data-plane traffic processing tasks for Cisco ASR 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers. These ESPs enable the concurrent activation of enhanced network services, such as cryptography, firewall, Network Address Translation (NAT), Quality of Service (QoS), NetFlow, and more, while maintaining line speeds. Figure 1 illustrates the Cisco ASR 1000 Series ESP 100 and ESP 200.
Placed at the WAN edge of enterprise data centers, large offices, and service provider Points Of Presence (POPs), Cisco ASR 1000 Series Routers rely on the power of ESPs to aggregate multiple traffic flows and network services, including encryption and traffic management, forwarding them across WAN connections at line speeds. With router options ranging from 2.5 to 200 Gbps, the Cisco ASR Family offers various models and licensing options to suit the speed and budget requirements of different organizations and locations.
The Cisco ASR 1000 ESP components accelerate service delivery using parallel processing. These ESPs are built on the Cisco Flow Processor (FP) for next-generation forwarding and queuing in silicon, operating at 20-, 40-, 100-, and 200-Gbps data-plane forwarding throughput rates. The combination of the Cisco ASR 1001-X, ASR 1001-HX, ASR 1002-HX, and ASR 1002-X Routers with 100- and 200-Gbps ESPs introduces the second generation of the Cisco FP hardware and software architecture. With FP-based ESPs at their core, ASR 1000 Routers achieve the following:
