Cisco Part Number: N2K-C2348UPQ is a Cisco Nexus 2348TQ-E 10G BASE T Fabric Extender
Cisco Nexus N2K-C2348UPQ |
48 x 1/10 Gigabit Ethernet and unified port host interfaces (SFP+) and up to 6 QSFP+ 10/40 |
The Cisco Nexus 2300 platform retains key features of the Cisco Nexus 2000 Series, offering unified management, vPC, vPC+, Enhanced vPC, and LAN/SAN convergence via FCoE. With true 40 Gigabit Ethernet support, enhanced buffers for traffic spikes, and unified port capability (starting 7.3 release on 2348UPQ with 5600 only), it suits highly virtualized, automated, and cloud environments.
The 1-Rack-Unit (1RU) Cisco Nexus 2300 fabric extenders are energy-efficient, providing front-to-back or back-to-front airflow options. They support 100 Mbps Ethernet, 1/10/40 Gbps Ethernet, Fibre Channel (starting 7.3 release on 2348UPQ with 5600 only), and FCoE, making them ideal for traditional data centers and large-scale virtualized cloud deployments.
The Cisco Nexus N2K-C2348UPQ fabric extender is a versatile unified port-capable device designed for tasks like managing large databases, distributed storage, and video editing. Currently, Fibre Channel functions are supported exclusively in Nexus 5600 since 7.3(0) N1(1). With 48 x 1- and 10-Gbps host unified ports, it also features up to six 40-Gbps uplink ports for the parent switch, supporting BiDi optics for easy connectivity with existing cable plans. The unified ports offer connectivity for 2-, 4-, 8-, and 16-Gbps Fibre Channel, along with 1 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet and FCoE options (Fibre Channel functions are currently supported only in hardware). Boasting a deep 32-MB shared buffer for enhanced performance, the Cisco Nexus 2348UPQ supports FCoE and Data Center Bridging (DCB) network technologies, enhancing the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of Ethernet networks. This enables the consolidation of LAN, SAN, and cluster environments with support for multiple traffic classes over a lossless Ethernet fabric. The device accommodates both forward (port-side exhaust) and reverse (port-side intake) airflow schemes, providing flexibility based on the switch's orientation in relation to hot and cold aisles. It includes two 1+1 redundant hot-swappable power supplies and three hot-swappable independent fans, supporting 2+1 redundancy.
